Social services burden taxpayers Sunday, August 7, 2005

The message being sent by the majority of the Board of Selectman in Framingham is becoming crystal clear.  If you own property in Framingham, you will pay for your children's education.  The average annual student cost is bordering on $13,000.

If you are a drug addict or alcoholic in Framingham, and you are in SMOC's continuum of care in tax-exempt properties, the Framingham taxpayers will provide your children with a free education.  SMOC has an estimated 200 school-aged children in tax exempt facilities around Framingham.  How does such a social service agency bilk the taxpayers like this, and what should we the taxpayers do about it?

If you are an illegal immigrant in Framingham, the Framingham taxpayers will provide your children with a free education and if our state representative has her way, in-state college tuition.  Framingham schools have nearly 2,000 bilingual education students, the majority are children of illegals.

One-third of the apartments in Framingham are subsidized through HUD Section 8 vouchers.  Here, your federal/state taxes are used to fund other peoples' housing.

Any request for a Proposition 2 1/2 tax override will simply be used to pay for more of this.  Framingham does an excellent job of redistributing your income.

Meanwhile, the state house recently voted 145-7 for the sales tax free holiday on August 13-14.  Deborah Blumer was one of the seven who wouldn't even throw starving taxpayers a small bone.
